A lightweight and aerodynamic rim brake road racing wheelset.
This wheelset is built with DT Swiss 350 hubs as standard (as they are simply amazing) but we also offer some excellent HUBgrade options if a different hub set tickles your fancy! We build all of our wheels to order anyway.
We recommend a shallower front to rear rim setup for optimal aero advantage and control. Your back wheel is anchored down by most of your bodyweight and so it can be deeper (=more aero) without sacrificing stability and control. Your front wheel on the other hand is not anchored down like this and in fact needs to be more nimble and manoeuvrable. However, if you would like your wheels symmetrical that's no problem at all, just pop your preference in the order notes.
The rims are made with premium Toray T700 carbon fiber and now with a new GROOVED 3K breaking surface with added graphene. The Graphene allows for faster heat reduction between braking but also reduces heat buildup in general. The Grooved track helps dissipate moisture between the brake pads and the rim in wet conditions as well as increasing braking friction (and thereby power) in the dry. They're brilliant.
and we like to know who (and what) we're building for as you might need a few more spokes, or a few less, or maybe you need brass nipples rather than alloy, or maybe you'd prefer silver spokes to black..!
So please do pop some information in the order notes about your weight, your intended use, and anything else you'd like to say so that we can make that this wheel set is built absolutely right for you.
DT350 ROAD RIM BRAKE WHEELSET SPECS
HUBS : DT SWISS 350
These are top value performance hubs - a durable but lightweight design with a unique and flawless patented star ratchet system for perfect transmission of power. Quality bearings that last like none other (honestly!) and these are the only hubs we have ever worked with which just do not develop play. They really are basically flawless.
It’s not the tradition in selling wheels but we round up our weights, better that they turnout slightly lighter than heavier when you get them out of the box.
We can provide and install tyres by any brand (I think!); Schwalbe, Hutchinson, Vittoria, Michelin, Panaracer etc. If you'd like to provide tyres for us to install tubeless we can do that as well, please just get in touch !
HUB UPGRADE (HUBGRADE™) OPTIONS!
With any of these HUBgrades the standard lacing would be 20/24, radial front and 2-cross rear. Different spoke count or lacing pattern is not problem, just get in touch with your request!
Lancashire made quality hubs which can add a some extra sound effects and/or a nice bit of bling to your bike! They are beautifully engineered, durable and versatile - one of the great features for off-road use being the option of a steel Shimano free-hub body; at no extra cost (but at an extra 85g) these are a great choice if you're a powerful rider and/or carry weight on adventures and prioritise durability over weight-saving.
DT SWISS LEVEL UPS !
So the 350s are amazing as they are, they genuinely are. But recently DT Swiss have further HUBgraded their lighter models - the 240 and the 180 making them even better, rather than predominantly 'just lighter'. Both now have the new Ratchet EXP Technology which has a higher 36t ratchet count (=faster engagement), faster full engagement, wider spacing on the rear hub body bearings (= increased axle stiffness and bearing lifespan, which would be impressive as DT Swiss 350 are already the very best in that regard), even lighter yet, easier to disassemble and service .. and the finish looks ace. DT180 EXP HUBS:
Made in the Black Forest! Which you will find in Germany. These are absolutely beautifully made, high quality and above all super light hubs. They also come in some stunning colours and with different bearing options - Standard, Enduro and Ceramic - please just get in touch for a quote for a bearing up-grade quote!
