2023 brings change to the Stayer offering and ordering process.
We are super excited to say that from the middle of next month standard sizes of all of our frame models will be available to purchase via the website.
Manufactured in small batches the production of standard size frames will happen at different times for different models throughout the year. We will give a bit of warning when pre-orders will open for each model and then if there are any left over they will become available as in stock on the website.
These changes will also coincide with a bit of a website revamp and product reshuffle. From then also all new custom frame orders, including custom sizes, will move to a waiting list order system on a first come basis.
And so!
We begin with our new and improved Stayer Crit frame. This full Columbus build will be available to order as a frame set or full bike in a range of standard sizes – geo’s to be released in a few weeks time.
Keep an eye on our social or sign up to the newsletter for updates. Everything will be up and running in just over a month with a super cool merch package for pre-order trailblazers.
Raoul wanted a bike for his commute to work with a heavy bag, to carry shopping and for the odd leisurely longer day in the saddle. He is something of a bike man and has owned a few custom machines (including one very fine Donhou road bike). His main objective with this build was the practicality of an everyday machine combined with good handling and a sharp look. He also had some specific parts he wanted to try out like the Compass Rat Trap 26″ tyres and a Specialized pizza front porteur rack.
I made Raoul a town bike with a low trail porteur geometry, a steel uni-crown fork with mounts for a front rack, full length colour coordinated aluminium mudguards, a short chain stay and clearance for 26″ wheels and Rat Trap ballooner tyres. I made a re-enforced custom 1 1/8″ head tube to handle the extra weight on the front end and set it up with a very short chain stay for manoeuvring through traffic, hopping curbs and pulling the odd ‘on the way home from work’ wheelie.
The large fork offset and 73° head angle (porteur style) makes the front end quite twitchy until you add the magic heavy bag of shopping or work stuff and, like banana man, transforms! becoming responsive and confidence inspiring. This bike is very much made to do the job for which it is required; carry that bag, hopefully make his day -pretty much- every day and look very sharp in the London traffic.
The components are a mix of Paul, White Industries, a porteur bag from Chrome and a Brooks Cambium saddle. The wheels are 26″ WTB KOM on Hope in a super cool anodised purple. The frame and mudguards were powder coated by Aurum Finishing in Yeti blue (appelblauwzeegroen to you and me) quality, practical and stylish choices were made in building this bike. Long may it ride the streets of London and travel the Belgian coastline in search of great beers and fine dining!
