2023 brings change to the Stayer offering and ordering process.
We are super excited to say that from the middle of next month standard sizes of all of our frame models will be available to purchase via the website.
Manufactured in small batches the production of standard size frames will happen at different times for different models throughout the year. We will give a bit of warning when pre-orders will open for each model and then if there are any left over they will become available as in stock on the website.
These changes will also coincide with a bit of a website revamp and product reshuffle. From then also all new custom frame orders, including custom sizes, will move to a waiting list order system on a first come basis.
And so!
We begin with our new and improved Stayer Crit frame. This full Columbus build will be available to order as a frame set or full bike in a range of standard sizes – geo’s to be released in a few weeks time.
Keep an eye on our social or sign up to the newsletter for updates. Everything will be up and running in just over a month with a super cool merch package for pre-order trailblazers.

The Original Gravster PLUS
The OG PLUS is our 2nd gen, mk2, updated super short chain stay, fat tyre drop bar bike.
Our OG gravel bike was always a bit ahead of the curve, before gravel was invented some might say, made for CX style riding on 650b wheel and the fast, rooty single track around our Epping Forest HQ BUT! the times they are a changing and as a result our jazzed stoker, positivity monitor and official voice inside our head shouted Go Large!
So we did.
With more tyre and more MTB, more mullet and more shreds we did a few tweaks and now the OG PLUS is where it’s at – that’s a FACT.
The OG PLUS is a frame to take advantage of the mullet, mix and match, mountain bike drive chain and road bike shifter component options that make a proper monster cross machine possible. It’s a gravalicious shred sled to get you out of bed and a 100% Bona fide rad about responsive dirt drop MTB force of cycling nature.
The selections below allow you to customise your OG PLUS frame / frameset / rolling chassis and some components.
If you are looking for a complete bike build please just get in touch.

The OG PLUS 27.5” is as a dirt drop trail bike
and/or
the perfect small-frame adventure rig.
The smaller wheel diameter 27.5” option is super short at 405mm and on a large bike and will feel very manoeuvrable. For those looking for a drop bar trail bike with a fun vibe and great handling the OG PLUS 27.5” is the one.
The geo is slack enough, and tyre clearance big enough, to make bike packing a go making this the preferred wheel choice if you are after a smaller wheeled adventure rig that can also handle the gnar on an unloaded rad-about with ease and grace.

The OG PLUS 29er is as a drop bar adventure bike
and
in the larger sizes more like a cyclo-cross bike with a mountain bike tyre.
The 29er version, although still short of wheelbase at 425mm, could be the adventurer of your dreams if you are looking for a multi day bike packer rig for hauling on a more tech terrain
but could also be the short wheelbase 29er dirt drop of your dreams if you so inclined, effectively being a UG with more tyre clearance and dropper post geo and routing as standard.

Frame geometry affects bicycle handling and therefore can be quite different between two bicycles of the same fit/size.
So,
if the numbers on the Sizing table are a little confusing and do not compare to your current frame then please fill in the form below (as best you can) and we will get back to you with a custom fit drawing and frame size suggestion in 1-2 working days.

We have tried to set up the sizes to cover most people,
however! everyone is different.
So if you need custom sizing that can be arranged. We build everything in house after all.
What we’ll be needing from you:
preferably from Bike Fit data (e.g. from a bike fitter like Soigneur)
but we are also happy to use fit information – contact points – from a bicycle you are perfectly comfortable on already.
As always, if you’re unsure about anything say the word and we can help you figure it out.
Check out our CUSTOM DEEP DIVE page for full custom inspo.

The OG PLUS is available in 27.5 and 29er versions – same but different riffs on the idea of a short chainstay drop bar party of a bike that will mean different things for different folks.
So! there are many articles and bits of info to internet search for here – it’s a very deep rabbit hole of a subject and one that we are happy to talk about if you want to ask.
Wheel size is what it’s all about, we aren’t here to tell you what you want, we’ve got options and we’ve got information AND! We also have a telephone so if you feel you want to ask about any of the pros and cons of wheel sizes – or indeed anything STAYER related at all – then we are here for you. Drop us an email or pick up the phone and we will do what we can to help.
27.5” wheels are smaller in diameter – with equivalent tyre widths – and are therefore a bit more manoeuvrable and get up to speed quicker. 29er wheels are larger in diameter and therefore roll over things with more ease and go further for less effort. The larger 29er also needs more frame to fit in which makes the frame more flexible and therefore slightly less easy for the rider to handle or move around obstacles.
27.5″ wheels are smaller and therefore lighter overall, whereas 29er wheels have a larger area of the tyre in contact with the floor at any one time so give more grip or traction.
In the world of relative size of things a 29er wheel will feel different on an Extra Small bike to how it feels to ride on an Extra Large. There is no rule here, or anywhere tbh, and much of the above pros and cons are so close in comparison that you may not notice the difference. Our advice is that it is worth considering what your use will be, how you want the bike to ride, what size your bike is going to be and then if possible take a test ride – please ask about this if you are on the fence about what to go for.
CNC and design wizard @Hulsroy designed a sick yoke for comfortable clearance for 2.3” rubber and we updated our geo’s with dropper posts and shorter stems in mind.
Available in either 27.5” or 29er wheels sizes and for MTB and wide road drive chains up to 40t up front.
You might be aware that we also hand-build some sweet wheels, in house.
For the Groadinger OG PLUS we recommend either the Gravel / MTB Wide wheelset (COMING SOON!) or the
Gravel Adventure wheelset as carbon options.

FRAMEBUILDING with Sam, a short film by Angus Sutherland
We build every frame in house, in our workshop in East London.
This not only means that we are able to develop and test ideas in house, and quickly, and build custom frames to order
but also that we can customise our in-stock standard size frames with all kinds of mounts, bottle bosses, gear routing… all after YOU order and before it goes to paint
making every frame a custom frame.
And even though we stock standard sizes, we don’t do standard bikes.
The majority of our frames are a mix of TIG welded and fillet brazed construction. Most of our bikes are made with a TIG welded front triangle unless you request differently. TIG welding is an electric arc welding process that melts the tube joint together with the addition of another material – in the case of our frames we use a stainless additional material to give the welded area a stainless property as well as essentially stronger than the tubes we are joining.
Braze ons, like bottle bosses etc are attached with silver solder making their addition very low temperature and not effecting the strength of the tubes they are attached to in any way.
Other additional parts of the frame like the brake mounts and rack bosses are attached with Bronze fillet which gives a brassy look when seen under the rAwrAw finish. This brazing process can also be used to construct the frame instead of TIG welding and is available on request at an additional cost.
All of our frames are made with a selected mix of Columbus and heat treated aerospace tubing called T45.
We use Columbus tubing for our main triangle and chain stay building because of its consistently excellent quality, strength and range of options for the bespoke builder. It’s a bit more expensive because of this but we believe that it is a price worth paying if you are looking for tubing to make a great quality bike for life.
Our house formed T45 wishbone stays are super strong and give the all around tyre clearance and super nice look of our frames. We are really proud to make this part in house from a great quality material.
We use machined parts from Bear Frame Supplies in the Lakes UK. They make our stainless dropouts, head tubes and bottom bracket shells along with the beautiful cnc’d yokes for our OMG frame model. Aaron and Sarah are mega and we are very pleased to be able to offer their stuff on our frames. They are all small batch production, made in house in the UK and this costs a bit more but we think it is worth it as it’s so damn good!
