At Stayer Cycles, we’ve had lots of conversations with riders who love their retro steel bikes but wish there were a straightforward way to add disc brakes. So we’ve decided to make it simple.
We’re now offering a mail-in service to modify your steel retro frame with disc tabs and cable guides, along with the removal of the original brake posts or if you wish.
The service costs £200 all in*, including return postage and packaging if needed.
*UK mainland. Please get in touch for a shipping quote for anywhere more exotic.

Send your frame to:
Stayer Cycles

Please only send your frame. Headset cups are fine to leave in, but no loose parts, please.
Because this is metalwork, the process will leave heat marks, burns, and scorches in the existing paint. Some people love the “worked-on” look; others feel it ruins the original finish. If you want to preserve factory paint, this service isn’t for you. You are, of course, welcome to repaint afterwards and make it look completely fresh.
Shipping the frame to us is your responsibility. We strongly recommend secure packing and a reliable tracked courier service. Stayer Cycles cannot take responsibility for the frame in transit. Turnaround time is typically around two weeks, depending on workshop activity.
Tell us what you’d like to build or repair, or simply let us know you’re interested in a future Project Week. We’ll recommend how many days you’ll need, discuss your project, and confirm suitable dates before you book.
