After riding from London down to Devon on the Snot Rocket and a Groadinger UG we thought it would be a good idea to explore some of the local trails. 20k was our max as our knees were just about hitting their limit. This route was stitched together pretty quickly but turned out to be an absolute gem. Starting in the village of Ashburton it begins winding through the wooded slopes of the river Ashburn before climbing up onto Dartmoor. Don't be fooled by the warmth on the climb up, be sure to have an extra layer for those intense moorland winds. It's likely you will see some of the hardy ponies that are kept in a semiferal state on Dartmoor. One of the best bits about this route is the second half is all descent so you can pretty much just sit back and enjoy the views, and be back in time for mid morning coffee.
